IV Fluid Shortage

We currently have an abundant supply of NS and D5W 500 mL. The ED has switched to NS 500 mL bags instead of LR 1,000 mL. We did get a small supply of D5W 100 mL, but not enough to sustain for very long. Calcium 2 g is being made in NS on the robot, but has 14 day expiration refrigerated. A small supply has been loaded in pyxis machines.

PSP Aeroscout Temperature Monitor

When ambient, refrigerator or freezer temperatures are out of range Aeroscout will send a message to the pager in PSP. When an alert comes to the pager, check to see what the issue is and document it in the log. If the refrigerator is not functioning properly, the drugs need to be moved to a working refrigerator to avoid loss of product.

Free 8 Hour Technician CE Progam

Free technician CE Saturday April 7 and Saturday April 14th from 7:30AM - 4PM at Huntsville Hospital Corporate University. Lunch will be provided. Topics to be covered include: transitions of care, drug information, medication safety, childhood illnesses and vaccines, medical surveillance, robotics, hospice, and Alabama pharmacy law.
