Monoclonal Antibody agents (mAbs) not included on the NIOSH Hazardous List will not be handled as hazardous agents, meaning the following compounding and administration processes will go into effect: • No longer prepared with Closed System Transfer Devices (CSTD) and will be prepared in an IV bag without tubing attached • Will be delivered with regular IV preparations • No chemo rated PPE will be required for administration (i.e. chemo gown) • Will not be required to be administered by a chemo certified nurse • Will be orderable via EMR for providers
Vital signs to assess are: • Body temperature • Blood pressure • Pulse rate • Respiration rate • Saturation of peripheral oxygenFrequency of vital sign assessment: prior to infusion, every 15 minutes during infusion, and every 30 minutes for the hour after infusion complete.
