Comments:

Ammonul use is restricted to severe cases of hyperammonemia, should be given with arginine I.V.

Ammonul -- used for rare cases of acute hyperammonemia in patients with urea cycle enzyme deficiencies (may be neonates to adults). Will need quickly. Extremely low use expected; hemodialysis is first line treatment. Not stocked, if ordered, verify above diagnosis, and expected therapy duration, order a 1-2 days drug supply at a time (will be shipped the day it is ordered). Depending on weight, cost could range from $3,000 to $12,000 per day.
