PROMACTA is classified as non-formulary, not stocked. It is for the chronic treatment of thrombocytopenia. It may only be obtained through specialty pharmacies and is delivered directly to the patient. Initiation of therapy should be deferred to after discharge and inpatients on maintenance therapy should use their own supply.
