FLECTOR patch is classified as formulary restricted, with use limited to renal patients or patients where oral NSAID therapy is undesirable in cases of minor injuries.

PENNSAID 1.5% topical solution is classified as nonformulary, not stocked for hospital inpatient and outpatient settings. If a diclofenac topical product is needed, the gel should be used. The patient may use his own supply of PENNSAID if needed.

VOLTAREN gel is classified as a formulary agent, restricted to use in patients with renal insufficiency or increased risk for adverse effects from systemic NSAIDs.
