2023: Updated Omicron XBB.1.5-adapted monovalent COVID-19 vaccines were reviewed. Both mRNA vaccines, from Pfizer and Moderna, were approved for use. These two vaccines will be classified as interchangeable and the most cost-effective product will be utilized in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
To be used per FDA-approved indications, Emergency Use Authorizations (EUA), and CDC guidelines.
NOTE: As of January 31, 2022, Huntsville Hospital will no longer offer the COVID-19 vaccines to inpatients, ED patients, or patients in the behavioral health units. Huntsville Hospital will continue to offer Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines to employees via employee health and to the general public by appointment at the Fever and Flu Clinic. The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is available at the Huntsville Hospital Med Mall Pharmacy.
