Lansoprazole (Prevacid) is considered a "back-up workhorse" and maybe used when the patient cannot swallow a pantoprazole tablet (either open the capsule or make a solution). May use Solu-Tab for N/G tube administration or special dosing (pediatrics).
Lansoprazole suspension: Restricted to use in pediatric patients that require a liquid formulation of a PPI.
Prevacid - 24 (OTC version of lansoprazole 15 mg) is classified as non-formulary, not stocked. Interchange to pantoprazole 40 mg.
