04/14/17 AA -- Morphine INJECTION Range Orders: Upcoming Changes April 4th Reminders

Subject: FW: Morphine INJECTION Range Orders: Upcoming Changes April 4th

A quick reminder on this:

Please remember that all “morphine inj (range)” orders must have both DOSE and RANGE fields populated for the order. If one of these fields is not populated, a default range (0.5 mg – 1 mg) will appear for removal from Pyxis which does not match the verified iCare order. Verification of an order without both fields populated will result in Nursing calling for modification of the order since they will not be able to remove the full amount requested.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Additional Note: Prior to this go-live we will be working to make sure that 2, 4, and 8 mg are standard stock in the majority of profile Pyxis devices.

The 10 mg syringes are loaded in the devices listed below. If you encounter a patient consistently receiving >8 mg per dose for a ranged order, Nursing may request the 10 mg to be loaded. Following the change on April 4 th , Central Pharmacies will not receive a prompt to load the 10 mg syringe unless otherwise requested.
