Hey everyone,

As mCDS warnings include not just Duplication but also Drug-Drug Interaction and Allergy, please note the following caveats/clarifications:

  • Drug-Drug Interactions: In Cerner, drug interactions are set up to only show alerts for Contraindicated interactions as defined by Cerner’s Multum database, or if we customize an interaction to be Contraindicated.  As a result, interactions that appear will not be as complete or nuanced as those from UptoDate or Micromedex.  If there is a particular interaction you feel should be firing, a request can be made to PharmIT (grp_pharmit@hhsys.org) and Med Safety

  • Allergy: Currently, only allergy reaction types of “Allery” will fire alerts in Cerner. Reaction types “Intolerance” and “Side Effect” will not fire.

Please let me know if you have any questions!
