Subject: vent drug usage

I'm sure you all know that we are keeping a close watch on the drugs our vent patients may use... these items have been difficult to procure over the past 6 weeks.

Since Sunday, PSP has made 41 fentanyl infusions, 28 lorazepam infusions, and 13 cisatracurium infusions. These three drugs aren't available for us to purchase other than on a sporadic basis.

I know there's a clinical reason for a particular drug choice, but please keep in mind that we have other drugs on hand. Dilaudid, morphine, midazolam (we have a good stock of this and it's more readily available than lorazepam), and vecuronium (a little more available than cisatracurium). If you can use a different drug... it helps to use a variety and not pull from the same drug stock... it would be appreciated. If we begin to deplete our supply of a particular drug, we'll do our best to let you know ahead of time.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please let me know. Thanks so much for your help!
