Hey everyone,

A tip sheet on how to look for a patient’s COVID-19 status in Cerner has been uploaded to the following link:https://docushare.hhsys.org/dsweb/Get/Document-83775/Tip%20Sheet%20-%20COVID-19%20status.pdf

It was also posted to the Pharmacy Information Technology link on Formweb: /hhsys

Please contact me if you have any questions.  Many thanks to Aaron/PharmIT, Lauren, and all of you for your help.

In addition to the Cerner Problem, PRIOR to entering a patient’s room, please look for Isolation Signs being posted outside patient rooms. For patients that have just arrived to our hospital, there is a possible lag time to entering the SARS-CoV-2 problem in Cerner.

The Isolation Sign is posted on Pulse (http://epulse.hhsys.org/) Hot List under COVID-19:https://docushare.hhsys.org/dsweb/Get/Document-83677/Droplet%20Contact%20Isolation%20Sign-HID%20Updated.pdf and these signs are being used for all patients being evaluated or treated for COVID-19.

Our tip sheet has been updated accordingly.

Pharmacists,

We are transitioning most of our COVID-19 testing to a local laboratory to improve turnaround time.  You will start to see the following in the lab order section of Cerner:

When this test is ordered, the lab will batch these samples and send them to Diatherix at 0600 each day.  The results will be available in Cerner between 1500 - 1800 each day.  Therefore, second shift will see the majority of the new positive patients that will be started on one of the therapeutic options that we sent out yesterday.

Once the test has resulted, you will see the below screen shot in Lab - Extended under Microbiology/Gen Lab.  You will be able to use this screen to know if the patient has tested positive for COVID-19 and be able to verify the order for the treatment options listed in the previously sent flow diagram.

I wanted to pass this information along to you to know when to expect test results to be available and where to look to determine if the patient is COVID-19 (+) or (-).

Please let me know if you have any questions,
