Subject: Morphine INJECTION Range Orders: Upcoming Changes April 4th

Effective April 4 th , we will be modifying the method in which morphine ranged orders are entered in iCare so that ONE ranged order is entered per route (ex. “2-8 mg IM/IV every 4 h PRN pain” will be entered as 2 separate ranged orders—one for IM, the other for IV). Attached is a quick reference document detailing this change and impact to Pharmacy on verification of these new orders.

Additionally attached is NURSING education regarding this change—please plan to share this during any Nursing Staff Meetings you attend during the month of March.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
