Subject: New Rule: Excipient Allergy Alert 3/10/20

A new rule will be introduced into our Cerner Production environment this afternoon that will present a notification based on patient excipient allergies and potential interactions with medications at time of ordering.  This alert will show in both Powerchart and Medication Manager (PharmNET).

The ‘allergies’ this rule will be evaluating include Egg, Peanut, Fish, Pork, Castor Oil, Thimerosal, and Sulfite/Sulfites.

A breakdown of which medications will fire for each allergy is attached for reference.  An example of the alert is shown below.  Please note that this alert is different from a typical ‘allergy’ alert window.

Please let us know if you have any questions or run into any issues with this alert.
