Subject: Lidocaine 2% 5 ml syringe on backorder

The Lidocaine 2% 5 mL syringes are on backorder. We are removing the few remaining syringes from pyxis and reserving them for the code trays/kits. We have plenty of the lidocaine 2% 5 mL-pf vials that we will use to replace the syringe in pyxis. PharmIT is making the adjustments in Cerner to make the vial the preferred product. This should be an easy switch as it's the same medication, just replacing the syringe with a preservative free vial. The vial does have wording on it "for infiltration and nerve block including epidural use".  If you receive questions about the wording, you can reassure the provider that it is also safe and effective for IV/SQ/IM use.

Thanks and let me know if you have any questions,
