Subject: Professional opportunities

As most of you know, the Pharmacy Dept was approved for six additional pharmacist FTEs beginning July 1, 2019. In return for this investment in our department, we promised to remove $1.6 million from the drug budget and to add some needed services. We are now in the process of completing the initial training of these new pharmacists and are ready to begin deployment soon. The purpose of this email is to inform you of the opportunities that these new FTEs have created.

    * Deployment of a pharmacist at Outpatient Medical for regimen optimization and order verification (already posted and filled)

    * Addition of another Q position to handle the verification load for procedural areas, 7 days per week

    * Re-institution of the UB1 position 7 days per week

    * Creation of Hybrid practices, which will include time as both UB and clinical specialist positions (see attached position description)

        * ICU and step-down practice, generally day shift (total 1.1 FTE)

        * ED practice, including expansion of ED coverage at Main to weekends, generally 11:30 am - 10:00 pm (total 0.5 FTE)

        * Opioid stewardship program, generally day shift, but may include 2nd or 3rd shift as needed (total 0.5 FTE)

    *

Drug diversion prevention point person, generally first shift, but may include some 2nd and 3rd shift (total 0.5 FTE) - see attached position description

For the hybrid and drug diversion roles, we plan to select a pool of pharmacists to rotate into these positions. If you are interested in a hybrid role, but not interested in all of the practice areas listed, you are still welcome to apply and would only be assigned a role with which you are comfortable. If you have questions about or would like to apply for the HYBRID positions, contact Mary Dang; if you have questions about or would like to apply for the DRUG DIVERSION PREVENTION position, contact Becky Ginn. Deadline for application is September 20, 2019 and interviews will begin shortly thereafter.
