Subject: Protonix IV on backorder

 

 

Protonix vials are on national backorder. McKesson distribution centers around the country show ZERO availability and we do not know when the shortage will end. Keith has been able to obtain a supply that should hold us for a few months, but it is imperative that we conserve IV Protonix as much as possible. Please review your patients daily and (1) convert to PO if the patient meets IV-to-PO criteria or (2) talk with the prescriber about discontinuing the PPI if acid suppression is not indicated.
