To offer further clarification of this: The need to void/discontinue and re-enter the order includes if you are changing the product at the time of verification when the system auto-product assigned to the incorrect product .

If it does not auto-product assign and the Product screen initially shows for selection upon verification—there is no need to void/discontinue and re-enter the order.

Of note, if you are changing the product to an in-Pyxis item (ex. Protonix IV 40 mg Push to Protonix PO), then the cancel and reorder is not necessary. The primary issue is where it auto-product assigns to a Pyxis item but we modify the order to be a not-in-Pyxis item.

The interface team is still researching options to prevent this from occurring, but for now, this is the simplest solution. We are actively trying to reduce incorrect products being selected by the system in the first place, so we are hopeful this situation can be reduced going forward. Please let me know if you have further questions or if you routinely run into a situation of incorrect product being auto-selected by the system.

Additionally: If you learn of a patient with active orders on their Pyxis profile containing medications which have actually been discontinued, please report patient FIN and Medications to the command center (50333) as these can be manually removed from the Server.

Thank you.
