02/19/19 MD -- "No Sub" Orders and Comments

Subject: "No Sub" Orders and Comments

Good Morning,

Just some Cerner tidbits/issues that you need to be aware of, as reported today:

1)Prescribers (MD, CRNP, PA) have been entering some products as "No Sub" per CPOE. This is most likely due to the fact that they do not know that they selected "No Sub" and that they're okay with formulary substitution.  When you receive a CPOE order that has been selected as "No Sub" please call the prescriber to confirm if that's what he/she wanted. If not, please interchange to a formulary product.

2)Be sure to read the "Comments" section of a CPOE order, some prescribers are entering details of an order there (i.e. duration x 4 doses, or add 3 amps of Sodium Bicarb).
