Tip Sheet – Med Manager Actions

All,

Everyone has completed Cerner 1Chart Core 1,2, and 3 training and most all are now signed off on the required Practice Module A (PA). Once a new go-live date is announced, the tentative plan is to begin refresher Cerner 1Chart training approximately four weeks prior. The refresher inservice will be similar to our CE sessions - classroom setting - and offered multiple times to allow everyone an opportunity to attend. We will also be adding a required Practice Module B (PB) which must be completed prior to Cerner go-live. In contrast to the just completed 4 hr session (PA), the PB module will strive to provide more of a real workflow experience as participants will work in pairs, with one person entering orders on multiple patients, and the partner monitoring their Pharmacy Patient Monitor (PPM) and verifying orders as they present. Roles will be reversed halfway through the session. To maximize the usefulness of this activity, the RPh entering orders must be efficient with drug order entry.

To assist in keeping up your skills with drug order entry, we have attached the PA Module as well as practice questions from Core 1, 2, and 3 class. Pharmacists are strongly encouraged to regularly review these materials. Use the practice sign-ons and practice patients listed below to retain the skills learned in core classes. If you have difficulty with any of the content in the module or core practice questions, do not hesitate to contact Joseph Ho, Steven Higginbotham, or myself.

Remember that practice patients refresh every night. If one practice patient appears to have been used, try another. Let us know if you cannot find an unused practice patient. Many practice questions can still be used even on a previously used practice patient. Think about the type of orders you see most often, and develop your own questions.

We would like for you to make an effort to practice in Nov. and then again in Dec. as time allows We hope to implement Cerner at some point in January - date not yet determined.

From Aaron's email regarding using the TRAIN environment outside the classroom:

-USER NAME: During CORE training you will be provided a tip sheet on how to log in to the TRAIN environment. In order to prevent complications with training, please use ONLY the user names listed below if you choose to practice outside of the classroom. Please be aware that others may be using this same user log in that day and so user-specific settings may be altered as you are navigating the system if another is using the same chosen login.

-TRAIN PATIENTS: Patients in the train domain are actively being used for training classes throughout the organization (including Pharmacy). It is important you use ONLY the training patients listed below for practice purposes outside of the classroom setting to ensure you do not interfere with training occurring for other individuals that day. Training is ongoing housewide until go live to include days/nights/weekends. As with user logins, since these are shared patients, please be aware that others may be using the same patient at the same time or during the same day. Therefore, you may see orders/actions on the patient that are not actions taken by yourself.
