Subject: Daily Pharmacy Huddles

By now, you probably have heard that we will be doing daily Huddles for all Pharmacy staff soon. We started on the 5th floor at Main this week and are adding TOC , HHWC , and Central Main next week. Here is some info about our Huddles:

    * Huddles are a proven way to improve communication. Our safety/quality consultant, HPI , will be recommending that all departments hold a daily Huddle in their area when they release their suggestions for improving the culture at HH
    * We pledge to keep Huddles to 5-10 minutes
    * These Huddles will be TWO-WAY...that is, a leader will make a few announcements, then turn it over to the attendees to make important announcements that impact our practice of pharmacy. We want to hear what you have to say, so please speak up!
    * Most functional areas of the department will be holding Huddles: Madison, HHWC , PSP , TOC , Retail, 5th floor, Main Central. You may attend any Huddle, but remember that you are most likely to get the most pertinent info for your practice if you attend the Huddle that is specific for your practice area (for example, PSP will likely focus on issues impacting PSP and may not cover areas that are pertinent to retail staff).
    * If you have feedback on how to make Huddles more effective, please let me know. We are in the process of selecting the best times, locations, and formats, so please bear with us.
    * Please participate in a daily Huddle in our department when they are rolled out to your area. There were numerous comments about communication, "my opinion counts...," and positive feedback during our recent employee engagement survey. I believe that these Huddles will improve communication, allow people to express their opinions and concerns regularly, and give both Huddle leaders and attendees the opportunity to recognize their colleagues who are doing a great job.
