The inpatient hospice facility is now using rectal catheters (Macy Catheters) for rectal administration of oral medications for appropriate patients. This requires a physician order and for the correct route of PR to be on each medication to be administered rectally. Please ensure the medication is able to be crushed before verifying these orders. See attached image for more info on the Macy Catheter.
