EPINEPHrine - Change of Standard Concentration in CV/CVOR

Subject: EPINEPHrine - Change of Standard Concentration in CV/CVOR

Pharmacists,

Historically, CV/CVOR has used EPINEPHrine 4mg/250mL as their standard concentration while the house-wide standard concentration is EPINEPHrine 8 mg/250mL. With the change to Cerner, the CV surgeons and practitioners have agreed to covert to the 8mg/250mL standard concentration. On Tuesday of this week, the epi 4mg bags were replaced with 8mg bags in CVOR.

If you verify for CV/CVOR, orders will need to be for EPINEPHrine 8mg/250mL (or changed to EPINEPHrine 8mg/250mL). The nurse practitioners and surgeons are aware, but it may be a hard habit to break. Please be aware of the orders for EPINEPHrine over the next few weeks.

Thank you in advance for helping to make this a smooth transition. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks,
Kate
