06/29/18 JR -- NSS/PKS pager - CHANGES

Subject: NSS/PKS pager - CHANGES
Attachment: communication without a pager
We are phasing out the NSS/PKS pager to more simplified communication strategies.

Nursing will continue to do their current process - contacting their unit based pharmacist. The pharmacist receiving the call should attempt to handle the call. Please see the attached document detailing workflow changes.

To simplify moving information from one area to another, I am requesting that transfers be handled during 7AM-3PM each day. Madison Hospital will likely transfer their folders after 9AM each day when Z position arrives. Any information left in central pharmacy over night will be picked up by the clinical technicians in the morning.

I am instructing nursing to remove their references to the pager today. The ultimate plan is to turn off the pager completely the first week of August.

Questions or concerns, please send to me directly. Thanks for continuing to provide excellent pharmacotherapy to our patients.
