Subject: Viewing TOC Technicians Admission History Notes in HCS

Hello,

I received a question this week regarding how to view our TOC technicians' notes in HCS, and thought it may be beneficial to send this refresher for all pharmacists.

How to locate TOC technicians' intervention notes:
On the Interventions tab in HCS, look to see if there are any "TOC Admit" interventions listed (there may be multiple TOC interventions if multiple people have worked on your patient).  If there are, these notes were entered by someone in TOC, likely one (or more) of our technicians.  To view the comments...

  • Double-click on the comments associated with the intervention and it will bring up an editable field.
  • Double-click again and it will bring up a much larger text box, allowing you to view more than two to three words at a time.
  • When you've finished reading, click "OK" at the bottom of the box to close it, and then click "cancel current" at the bottom of the screen (otherwise, if you click "save" instead, it will place your name beside the comments as if they were your own - this is true when viewing ANY intervention in HCS!).

Note: these notes should, at a minimum, state where the information was obtained (pt/family/bottles/etc.) and any items that were questioned (ex. inactivated med with recent fill history, any med left active with outdated fill history, dose/frequency listed does not match quantity dispensed, etc.).  If you still have any questions after reading these notes, please feel free to contact the technician (or nurse if it's after the technician has left for the day).

Please let me know if I can answer any questions.

Thank you,

April
