Subject: C2Safe - new requirement for meds in baggies (Madison, HHWC, and Main)

Effective immediately:

All medications (vials, tablets, capsules, etc.) that are stored in baggies in the C2Safe must be tamper-taped with the following information clearly written on the baggie:
- QUANTITY
- EXP DATE OF EARLIEST EXP DATE
- PERSON'S NAME (not initials) of who counted and bagged it.

When doing the counts of remaining stock, any baggies that are not tamper-taped, the contents must be counted by you. Eventually, all items will be sealed and quantity marked.

We have discovered that the best way to tamper tape the baggies is to use a long piece of tamper tape and wrap it around the baggie. If you use a short piece, it could potentially be removed and reapplied.

I have also printed some labels to write the information on....you do NOT have to use the labels (you can write directly on the baggie with a marker if desired).....IF you use the label, you will need to position the label so that the tamper tape is placed on top of the label also.

This includes all HH pharmacies (Madison Hospital, HHWC, and Main). If you have questions, please direct them to Chris Strickland, Katie Vandiver, or me.
