Later today iCare will be updated so that we will go back to using Potasium chloride 40 mEq/100 mL bags. We will no longer be using Potassium chloride 20 mEq/100 mL q 2 hr x 2 doses to get the 40 mEq dose.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Steven

Potassium chloride 40 mEq IVPB has been updated in iCare due to drug shortage and issues with removals.

It now will enter a 20 mEq/100 mL IVPB q 2 hr x 2 doses :
- Nurse should remove one bag at at time.
- When next bag is due, go back to Pyxis to remove second bag to equal a total of 40 mEq.

If you have concerns or questions, please contact me.
