05/07/18 DC -- OFIRMEV orders from Dr. Doucette

Subject: OFIRMEV orders from Dr. Doucette

I just spent about 20 minutes talking with Dr. Chappell regarding Dr. Doucette's ordering of OFIRMEV for his bariatric surgery patients. He said that Dr. Doucette has been educated about this issue and that we should continue NOT verifying these orders. In the future when he writes for ORIFMEV in his bariatric surgery patients, you can add a note that it is a NON-formulary drug and then automatically delete it - no need to call him, per Dr. Chappell.

Thank you for all your help with these challenging formulary (and shortage) issues. Our efforts are paying off in that our inpatient drug expense is stable and we continue to have vital drugs for our patients. As always, if you have questions about the formulary or an issue with disruptive behavior, please do not hesitate to contact me. Dr. Chappell has assured me that bad behavior, if it occurs, will be dealt with.
