So, with all great plans...

We were unable to obtain the 1 gm IVPBs premade as originally planned.  The order set will not go live until Thursday AND it will list 2 gm IVPBs for the floor patients.

Thanks.

The calcium portion of the ADULT electrolyte protocol will be changing tomorrow [Tuesday 03/06/18] when iCare is updated.  IT will alert you when the changes are made in the EMR.

A flyer was created detailing the changes that can be found here.

Some important points:
1.  Calcium tablets have been added. Doses are scheduled BID to prevent patient from being awakened for a tablet administration.
2.  Different levels of ionized calcium value dictates the dose and type of calcium administered
3.  Floor patients will either receive Calcium tablets or IVPB administration
4.  ICU patients will either receive Calcium tablets or IV PUSH administration
5.  Phosphorus repletion has changed to its own page.

These changes were implemented to reduce IV bags usage and to reduce the number of patients receiving IV administration overall.

If you have questions or concerns, please let me know.
