Subject: Vecuronium/NORCURON drips
Drug Shortage Management:
Please convert all
vecuronium (Norcuron) drips to
rocuronium (Zemuron) drips due to drug shortage of the larger vials for making vecuronium drips.
cisatracurium (Nimbex) remains available for infusions and would be preferred in patients with renal dysfunction; please call the prescriber to convert to Nimbex instead.
For Adult patients : automatic change from Norcuron to rocuronium drips as a P&T action. Do NOT verify any new vecuronium drips until further notice.
For Pediatric patients : the prescriber should be notified
PSP : should no longer dispense Norcuron drips until shortage is over.
For push doses : currently have a supply that can continue to be utilized. We expect the pushes to be an upcoming issue as well. You will be notified if additional conversions are required.
Please let me know if there are any questions.
