Since sodium phosphate is now available, I wanted to remind you all of a few things concerning TPNs.

A few things to remember:

Watch to make sure the order in iCare and the TPN folder matches for the phosphorus product needed If converting patients back to Sodium Phos from Potassium Phos - adjust KCl amount as needed Always label the Phosphorus type on the TPN form if Potassium Phos being used or when changing back to NaPhos [most choose "K" above the amount of Phosphorus being used] Sodium Phos 3 mmol = 4 mEq Na; watch total Na content in TPN not to exceed 154 mEq/L of Na

With the Sodium Phosphate return, all ADULT electrolyte components listed on the TPN form can be utilized!

As Chris stated, please continue to use NeutraPhos Oral/NG route as possible.

Sodium phosphate vials are back in stock. You may resume ordering it in TPNs starting tomorrow 2/1. Sodium phos is also available for IVPB boluses, but the fluid shortage hasn't gotten better, so continue to utilize oral phosphorus replacement when appropriate. Let me know of questions, thanks!
