Please review and remember the attached sample home medication worksheet is ONLY valid in the ED-OBS unit/G-pod. These orders are not valid once the patient is admitted to the floor.

While most patients in G POD are discharged directly without being admitted, approximately 10% of their patients are admitted..

Subject: G POD home medication form

All,

If you happen to verify orders for the observation unit (POD G) you may see a new home medication form. This should make the home medication ordering process much more clear. Instead of the Obs physician having to hand enter each of the home meds into wellsoft , the nurse will enter the meds into a table and the physician will address them. The nurse will indicate on the form if she needs meds to be sent or if the patient has there own home meds . Note that these orders will become deactivated if the patient becomes admitted to the floor. This is due to the fact that the admitting physician will have to address the continuation of home medications himself.

Please take a moment to look at the form. It's pretty straight forward and will hopefully simplify the process.
