Good afternoon,

In case you haven't noticed, we now have a Mobile Leech Refrigerator in Central Pharmacy. It is located directly behind the change of shift book. Leeches will now be dispensed to patients in this lockable refrigerator. The key to the refrigerator will be kept in the CII Safe under "Central Pharmacy>>>Key, Leech Refrigerator". The refrigerator will be stored in the patient's room or designated area on the nursing unit. The key for the locked refrigerator will be placed in the appropriate Pyxis station as "Key, Leech Refrigerator".

Attached is the Medicinal Leech Therapy guideline and order set for your review. I have also attached a Central Pharmacy Procedure for Leech Therapy which includes information on ordering, storage, dispensing, and disposal. Copies of all documents can be located in Central Pharmacy in the Leech Therapy notebook. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thank you,
Greta
