6/22/26 Thiamine IV Push

June 22, 2026

Thiamine is changing from IVPB to IV Push starting tomorrowJune 23 for adult patients.

Drug Information has reviewed thiamine administration and determined that IV push (IVP) administration is safe for doses up to 500 mg.
All thiamine order sentences for doses up to 400 mg will be converted to IVP administration in Cerner.
Thiamine 500 mg IVPB will remain the standard administration for 500 mg doses; however, if a provider specifically orders thiamine 500 mg as an IV push, this is considered safe and can be entered in Med Mgr.
