12/11/25 IV Acyclovir Shortage Management

December 11, 2025

Pharmacists,

IV Acyclovir is currently on shortage. We have < 7 days supply remaining.

Please see the attached IV Acyclovir Shortage Management document.  Within the document you will find:

  • Adjustment to the patients that are approved to receive IV acyclovir (until we run completely out of this medication)
  • Updates to the alternative medications when IV acyclovir is not indicated (using the above referenced criteria) or when we run completely out of IV acyclovir
  • Updates to the situations where oral alternative agents to IV acyclovir are recommended

Please take a look at these and let AMT know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Madeline
