10/24/24 Alpha-Gal Drug Lists

We've had some recent requests for a list of some commonly used medications that are safe in alpha-gal
 
*We have created a document, called Alpha-gal SAFE Medication List that is posted on FormWEB under the Alpha-Gal Syndrome button
*It lists some non-injectable medications that may be requested post-op (some pharmacists have been asked to find an oral analgesic that is safe in alpha-gal)
*It also lists some other medication classes - including insulin; most insulin products contain glycerin, but Eli Lilly products (including HumaLOG and HumuLIN R U-100) do not contain mammalian ingredients

 

*The Alpha-gal Surgery Drug List is the previous surgery drug list updated with the most recent package insert date - reviewed last week
