07/25/17 RC -- Recombivax HB shortage

Recombivax HB Shortage - Due to the national shortage of Recombivax HB (our normal formulary agent), we will transition to the use of Engerix-B during the indefinite shortage period.  The dose of Engerix B is different than Recombivax.  We will use 2 pediatric Engerix B vials (10 mcg/ 0.5 ml each) for one adult vial (20 mcg/1 mL) due to cost issues.  Employee Health and Huntsville Hospital related clinics have been notified of the shortage and transition over to Engerix B during the shortage.  Please see formulary document for dosing information.  Let Drug Information know if you have any questions.
