8/824 PyxisES Upgrade Starts Tuesday, August 13 at 8PM

The following will be posted to PULSE and communicated to Nursing Groups.  Sending to all Pharmacy staff so all are aware.  If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the PyxisESHelp group.

PyxisES v1.7 Upgrade Starts Tuesday, August 13^th

The PyxisES upgrade will begin Tuesday, August 13^th and will consist of two parts:

1. Server Upgrade: Tuesday, Aug 13 at 8PM to Wednesday, Aug 14 at 6AM.  During this time no interface data will be processed until the server upgrade is complete.  Therefore:
2. All devices will be placed on Critical Override
3. Any newly admitted patient will need to be added as Temporary Patient at a Pyxis device
4. Device/Station Upgrades: Monday, August 19 through Thursday, August 29
5. Device upgrades will be completed in groups of stations in 2 hour increments primarily between the evening hours of 7PM and Midnight.  There are some exceptions to this schedule.
6. Pyxis devices undergoing upgrade will be completely unavailable during the 2 hour upgrade process.  Pharmacy will work with units to use an alternate device or resupply medications while device is unavailable.
7.       It is CRITICAL the device is not touched/opened/accessed during the upgrade process.  If the upgrade process is interrupted, the device may become unresponsive resulting in a significantly extended downtime for the device.
8. Device upgrade schedule will be communicated via phone calls to unit leaders the day prior and day of upgrade as well as through flyers posted in the med rooms
