Subject: PROTONIX IV shortage - again!

We have a CRITICAL IV PANTOPRAZOLE shortage and need everyone possible switched to an alternate product. Travis has built a report under the DRUG SHORTAGE MANAGEMENT tab in Sentri7 to aid you in identifying these patients.

  • If a PPI is indicated and the patient can take PO, please switch to PO pantoprazole with the next dose

  • If the patient is unable to swallow PO, we have PREVACID SoluTab ODT available

  • If a parenteral acid blocker is absolutely needed, we have famotidine IV in stock

  • If there is no clear need for acid suppression, considering recommending that all such products be discontinued.

Thanks for your prompt attention to this matter - with our current usage, we will be totally out of pantoprazole IV in a matter of days. DAVID
