4/11/24 Volume Removed From PSP Electrolyte Products
April 11, 2024

Currently, the MAR and MAR Summary show the dose and volume of products. In most cases this is useful information for the Nurse. However, when an IV Set is ordered, the volume displayed is the volume of the drug additive based on the dose instead of the total volume of the IV Piggyback. There was concern that this displayed volume for the additive could cause confusion and errors, particularly with Pediatric patients, where small dose volumes are used.

To decrease the chance of errors, we've removed the volumes associated with electrolyte products compounded by PSP.

We will continue to monitor this change and evaluate if other products will need to be changed in the future.

Thanks,

Travis
