Subject: URGENT LORazepam information

The following e-mail was just sent to our medical staff. If a LORazepam drip is ordered, pharmacists will work with the prescriber to determine an appropriate alternate. FYI: midazolam (Versed) is available for drips in ICUs and for comfort care.

We just received notice that ALL of our LORazepam (Ativan) 10 mL vials used to admix LORazepam drips has been recalled. Beginning immediately, we are unable to supply LORazepam drips. Midazolam (Versed) injection is available and can be used in ICUs and for comfort care if a benzodiazepine drip is needed.
