Hey all,

I just wanted to take a moment this summer to thank and celebrate our whole pharmacy team, especially the transitions of care (TOC) group at Huntsville Hospital.  Our TOC presentation at Oracle Cerner Health Conference (OCHC) last Oct 2022 can be viewed at the links below, which includes changes Huntsville helped design for Cerner platforms everywhere.

At OCHC were introduced by Andrew McLaughlin, head of pharmacy at Cerner, and his team is continuing to work on quality of life improvements our inpatient pharmacists have asked for since go-live (e.g. showing Once orders as Active in MedManager until charted on, unlocking the Start Date/Time field for pharmacists in MedManager after the Start Date/Time has passed, and re-exploding tasks when that time is changed).  I cannot give an ETA on when these features will be live at Huntsville, but they are in active development.  The additional ideas many of you have suggested for Cerner early this year are still being collected to be delivered to Andrew’s team, but we probably won’t be ready to send those until the fall/winter.

Due to our recognized work in transitions, we also had an on-site visit from Surescripts representatives last month (the organization that oversees all e-prescribing and External Rx History nationwide), and we were able to exchange good information between that team and staff from both TOC and our outpatient pharmacy team.

Thank you again for all your hard work and the great ideas and support from pharmacists, pharmacy techs, LPNs, PharmIT, and leadership who have allowed Huntsville to become a model for pharmacy and push for improvements to Cerner and beyond.  Looking forward to more wins to come.
