Subject: Duplicate Anticoagulant Alert Trial

Hello,

Just a reminder that the duplicate anticoagulant alert started today. Please see below:

The duplicate therapy checking was going to be implemented in Cerner. Currently, duplicate therapy checking is turned on for ACTIVE enoxaparin and apixaban orders only. However, in this event, the duplicate dose was from an INACTIVE one time enoxaparin order. We will be adjusting the setting for Discontinue Days/Include in alerts to 1 day for enoxaparin on 4/17 and 4/18. This means that an INACTIVE order that has been discontinued less than 1 day will generate a duplicate alert. We are concerned that this will significantly increase the number of false positive alerts and contribute to alert fatigue so we will be turning this on for those 2 days only and then evaluating data to assess the utility of this setting.

Let's see what this does....if effective or not.
