Subject: Acyclovir (Zovirax): Default Dose Weight Calculation Algorithm Go-Live 1/17/23

Effective Tuesday, January 17, 2023, when the dosing calculator is called for Adult Acyclovir IV Synonym orders in Powerchart [ordered through the HOSP Acyclovir (Zovirax) IV Orders Powerplan], a default “Acyclovir Weight Calculation” algorithm will be applied to use a correct weight calculation method as described below:

Just as with IVIG Weight Calculation method, while the default Adjustment Type will display as “Adjusted Body Weight” in the calculator, please know that the Actual Body Weight will be utilized with the Acyclovir Weight Calculation method when patient BMI <30.

Please let us know if you have any questions about this new algorithm or run into any issues with its use after go-live.  Thank you.
