Subject: Iron dextran shortage

Hello all,
We are experiencing an abrupt shortage of iron dextran (INFED) injection. 
The Pharmacy Buyers are attempting to purchase from alternative sources, but as of today we do not have confirmation of shipment. 
There are currently 10 vials of iron dextran on the carousel and the manufacturer has not projected an estimated resupply date. 
 
In previous shortages our recommended alternative was iron sucrose (VENOFER) injection for inpatient use.
