Effective 6/20/17, Adult Sliding Scale Insulin (SSI) medication orders will no longer be entered as 5 separate line items within the patient’s profile. Instead, one ranged dose insulin order will be entered with comments indicating the SSI Level and amount of insulin to administer based on blood glucose. This change will only impact Adult SSI protocol orders and will not impact entry/verification of custom SSI or Pediatric SSI protocols at this time.

This change will aid in simplifying the active medications listed in the patient profile, eMAR, printed MAR, and within Pyxis. Attached is education to be distributed later this week to Nursing and HUA staff regarding this change. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
