Subject: mCDS Duplicate Alert Change: 5/9/22

Due to med errors related to duplicate checking/alerting of sodium bicarbonate resulting in removal of product as an additive in IV Sets, effective Monday, May 9, mCDS Duplicate Checking will no longer occur in Powerchart for medications in the categories of ‘antacids’ and ‘electrolytes and minerals’ (listed below) with the exception of Potassium-containing products.

Duplicate alerts for both categories will still occur in MedManager (will display override reason as “mCDS AM” when entered from Powerchart—screenshot below).  Potassium-containing product duplicate alerts will still occur in both Powerchart and MedManager.

Please let us know if have any questions prior or if you encounter any issues with this change after implementation.  Thank you.
