Subject: Heparin Bag Scanning

Good Morning,

The Braun heparin bags currently in stock have two different barcodes that could cause confusion for nursing when they are trying to scan them. On the bottom left of the bag, the shorter in length (NDC) barcode will scan in Pyxis and Cerner. The longer (EXP/LOT) barcode below it will not scan. If you receive calls from nursing, direct them to scan the shorter NDC barcode. After that, If nursing is still having issues with scanning, please report it.
