Subject: ACTION REQUIRED: metronidazole IVPB shortage

We are critically low on metronidazole IV and, at our current rate of usage, will likely run out before we receive another shipment. Please review profiles and take immediate action to convert all patients on IV metro who are able to take PO to oral metronidazole.

If the patient is unable to take PO, you will need to work with the prescriber to convert to another drug which has anaerobic coverage, including clindamycin, cefoxitin, or pip/tazo.
