Subject: IV Tocilizumab Shortage

Hi pharmacists,

As of this afternoon, we are out of IV tocilizumab. PSP is able to compound an IV infusion using two of the tocilizumab 162 mg subcutaneous syringes (for a total of tocilizumab 324 mg). The ID physicians do not have an option for "tocilizumab 324 mg" in PowerChart at this time so they will still be selecting "tocilizumab 400 mg" in their consult to pharmacy. The ID physicians are aware the patient will receive the tocilizumab 324 mg compounded IV. If the patient meets criteria, the medication is built in MedManager for you to order (screenshot attached).

We will keep you updated on any changes to this process as we (hopefully) receive more of the IV tocilizumab vials tomorrow.

Please call the COVID-19 Hotline at (256) 469-8560 if you have any questions.
