Subject: COVID med orders

We have received several orders for ivermectin and high-dose ascorbic acid (Vit C) injection in COVID-positive patients. Both drugs were explicitly rejected by P&T as treatments for COVID and their FormWeb status reflects this decision. Additionally, in at least a few cases, the physician ordered Vitamin C injection in a COVID-positive patient, and claimed that he was treating "sepsis."

Dr. Chappell called me this morning to ask if we had received reqeusts for these drugs. I told him 'yes' and he reiterated that neither of these drugs were to be used on COVID-positive inpatients. If you have an insistent physician, feel free to contact the ID Team or me, but do not verify these orders unless approved by one of us.

Thanks for all that you are doing to take care of our patients. DAVID
